An all-share merger between Carphone Warehouse and Dixons Carphone in 2014 resulted in large amounts of information being scattered across a range of sites and systems. Dixons Carphone saw this as an opportunity to overhaul internal communications by making it more modern, easier to use and capable of improving back-end process efficiency.

Importantly, they wanted a platform to help them capitalize on the vast knowledge of their workforce so they could ultimately improve the customer journey, keep customers happy and keep them shopping in stores.

LiveTiles’ flexibility allowed Dixons Carphone to quickly and easily roll out several implementations to test the tool‘s effectiveness and gauge employee response. This included; a People Directory (augmenting colleagues from previously disconnected directories and enabling users to connect with others via Yammer or Lync based on skills profile or role), a Digital News portal (to regularly communicate strategy and success, featuring a Yammer link for employees to post and answer questions), and a modern new intranet home page.

The simplicity and intuitive nature of LiveTiles meant employees required little to no training. Dixons hope LiveTiles will allow them to be largely self-sufficient in the Microsoft suite in future. Most importantly, they are building a thriving online culture with the power to enhance the all-important customer experience.
